Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2024 Revealed

The Hockey Hall of Fame has revealed its class of 2024, inducting seven distinguished individuals on November 11, 2024. This year’s honorees include five players and two builders, all of whom have left an indelible mark on the sport.

Players Honored

Leading the group of players is Jeremy Roenick, whose illustrious 20-year career in the NHL saw him donning jerseys for five different franchises. Roenick's prolific scoring prowess is evident in his 513 goals and 703 assists amassed over 1,363 games. His exceptional performance has secured him a spot as the fourth-highest goal scorer and the fifth in points among American-born players in NHL history.

Pavel Datsyuk, known for his extraordinary skill and defensive acumen, joins Roenick in this prestigious class. Datsyuk's 14-season tenure with the Detroit Red Wings was highlighted by his remarkable consistency and excellence in both ends of the rink. He was a perennial favorite for the Selke Trophy, being voted for it in ten different years and winning it consecutively from 2008 to 2010. Datsyuk's career totals of 314 goals and 604 assists across 953 games, along with his two Stanley Cup championships, underscore his remarkable impact on the ice.

Shea Weber stands out as another inductee, recognized not only for his goal-scoring ability with 224 goals and 365 assists over 16 seasons but also for his leadership and defensive prowess. Weber's contributions were pivotal in leading the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020. His reputation as a top defenseman is further cemented by being a three-time finalist for the Norris Trophy.

On the women's side, legends like Natalie Darwitz and Krissy Wendell-Pohl are being celebrated for their significant contributions to the sport. Darwitz played a crucial role in leading the University of Minnesota to a national championship in 2005, scoring the game-winning goal against Harvard. Her international career is decorated with two Olympic silver medals, one bronze, and a host of World Championship medals, including three golds.

Krissy Wendell-Pohl's stellar career includes playing 147 games internationally, where she scored an impressive 106 goals. Wendell-Pohl's accolades include a silver and bronze Olympic medal and leading Team USA to a gold medal at the World Championships in 2005, where she also earned tournament MVP honors.

Contributions of Builders

David Poile, the architect behind the Nashville Predators, is the winningest general manager in NHL history with 1,533 regular-season victories. Poile's tenure with the Predators saw the franchise's first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 2017. His remarkable career as a GM is highlighted by his ability to build and sustain competitive teams throughout his illustrious career.

Colin Campbell, another esteemed builder, has had a varied and impactful career in hockey. Campbell's eleven seasons as an NHL player provided him with a deep understanding of the game, which he successfully translated into coaching and executive roles. He played a crucial role in the New York Rangers' Stanley Cup victory in 1994 as an assistant coach and went on to serve as the team's head coach for four seasons. For the past 25 years, Campbell has been a key figure in the NHL as an Executive Vice President, continually shaping and influencing the league.
