Power Rankings: Who's At The Top of The Tables?

A handful of elite teams are expected to fight to win World Series glory this season after dominating their respective divisions. There are four weeks left on the schedule, with several important races to watch out for however, the top teams are already planning ahead to the postseason. The top five teams in the MLB power rankings as of now:

San Francisco Giants

The Giants have won the series with the Dodgers by a spirited 6-4 victory over the Dodgers on the weekend. They currently are two wins clear from Los Angeles at the top of the NL West, with the most impressive overall record this year. The Giants remain as a long shot to win this year's World Series - you can see lower odds on five different teams - however, San Francisco has delighted in discrediting predictions through the entire season. It is hard to think of any method that would have had that the Giants scoring more than 85 victories in the past, but they have already beat that mark with four weeks to go. The majority of the remaining games they play are against NL West rivals, and they boast one of most impressive records in the MLB's intradivisional this season, so they'll be able to secure the West.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers may be trailing the Giants by two victories at the top of the NL West, but they still have the best record in the league this year. They were beaten in two of three games to the Giants over the weekend, but they would be 2-1 if not for a bases-loaded throw error from the unfortunate Trea Turner. Walker Buehler is one of the NL leading contenders for the Cy Young, while Max Scherzer has proven to be a smart purchase. The Dodgers have a long-standing chance of winning success, while every sportsbook predicts Los Angeles the favorite to take home a second in a row World Series title this year.

Tampa Bay Rays

The current AL champion is sure to make playoffs for the third consecutive year, something that has never happened before. The Rays have also set the record for franchise records of the 97-win mark in their sights, having put up an 88-52 record so to date. Their 11-10 comeback win against The Red Sox was exhilarating, and they've now got 11 wins from its recent 15 games. The Rays are gaining momentum and many supporters believe that the Rays are entering an era of glory in their history as a franchise.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are a lock to win the NL Central after opening up an advantage of 12 games over Reds. The duo of stars Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff are both serious Cy Young contenders, and Adrian Houser was phenomenal in a complete game shutout against the Cardinals the other week. There is no way for any team to take on Milwaukee in the playoffs. But the team is sweating on the health of Willy Adames. The Brewers boast a MLB-best record of 63-32 since he made his debut, and he's got the potential to shine in the postseason.

Houston Astros

The betting odds place the Astros the second favorites to take home the World Series this year, in spite of an upswing in recent times. They are now just five wins ahead over their rivals the Mariners and six points ahead from those Athletics on top of the AL West, so that division could go all the way to the finish line. However, the Astros have a 14-game run against the Angels, Rangers and Diamondbacks to look forward to which may help them earn some breathing space. Recent performances haven't been impressive, but the Astros are still stacked with talent , and they may be one of the teams to beat within the AL.
